Developing Vocational Education in Europe – An Erasmus+ KA210 Project Coordinated by Innostus

25/04/2026

The operating environment of vocational education is changing rapidly: skill needs are evolving, student groups are becoming more diverse, and the use of resources must be increasingly effective. These challenges are addressed in an Erasmus+ KA210 small-scale partnership project coordinated by Innostus, bringing together vocational education providers from across Europe.

The project focuses on improving the flow and impact of learning. The aim is to identify factors that support students' progress and to recognize where unnecessary delays or bottlenecks occur in educational processes. To support this work, the project applies principles of LEAN thinking.

In an educational context, LEAN means viewing teaching and guidance as processes from the student's perspective. The goal is to eliminate non-value-adding steps, clarify practices, and improve collaboration between different actors. Key areas of development include the transparency of study paths, timely guidance, and effective information flow.

Applying LEAN principles in vocational education brings three main benefits:

  • Smoother learning pathways: students progress more efficiently when delays and uncertainties are reduced
  • Better use of resources: time and expertise can be directed where they create the most value
  • Continuous improvement: practices are developed systematically based on feedback and data

The project also utilizes team learning and co-creation methods, enabling teachers and experts to share practices and develop solutions collaboratively. International cooperation provides valuable perspectives and helps identify effective approaches across different contexts.

Erasmus+ KA210 funding enables agile development work, where new approaches can be tested in practice and their impact evaluated. The goal is not to create a one-size-fits-all model, but to identify principles and solutions that can be adapted to different educational settings.

The project will result in practical tools and operating models that support the quality, efficiency, and student-centeredness of vocational education.

We focus on practical solutions and apply innovative approaches such as team coaching and team learning tools to strengthen collaboration, engagement, and learning outcomes.

As the project coordinator, Innostus Consulting Ltd. plays a key role in bringing partners together, facilitating LEAN knowledge and collaboration, and ensuring the exchange of effective practices across countries. By creating structures for open dialogue and shared development, Innostus supports a learning community where both educators and students can benefit from diverse perspectives and jointly developed solutions.
